With a lifelong career in sales, Jim launched his real estate business after realizing he could provide a better level of service than the caliber he received from local professionals. After he and his wife Nancy dealt with multiple issues hiring resources to manage her parent’s rental properties and receiving limited guidance with their subsequent sale, Jim knew his expertise in supporting clients through the sales process could translate to the real estate industry.
Focused on the educational aspects and using his established talents as a facilitator, Jim turned out to be a natural at real estate. His reputation as a kind and generous man (with a Brooklyn-born sense of humor!) made him able to easily get to know people and understand what they needed.
Jim’s expertise in real estate contracts and ability to negotiate deals in the best interests of his clients set a high standard of service in the local market. Those standards got even higher once his wife became his business partner! Nancy Ward brought her tenacity and expert administrative skills which laid the foundation for their team as it exists today. Together with the addition of Michael and Katie to the team, working with the Ward family has become synonymous with a stress-free, knowledgeable, and trustworthy experience.
A Vietnam Veteran who also served in the USAF at MacDill AFB, Jim drag raced professionally for the Chrysler Corporation in conjunction with Don Carlton and The Mopar Missile. With his first successful career in medical equipment sales and services, Jim devotes his spare time to his family and to volunteering with Metropolitan Ministries.
Nancy officially joined Jim in the real estate business in the mid 1990's. With her abilities to exhibit grace under pressure and provide a consistent client experience, she shared her husband Jim’s vision to create a real estate company that treated people like family -- by providing a nurturing environment with the perfect blend of professionalism.
Her warmly engaging personality and depth of industry education has given her the reputation of seamlessly getting deals done to her clients’ satisfaction. She keeps the wheels spinning by developing the systems and procedures that make transactions appear effortless to The Ward Team’s buyers and sellers.
Nancy’s responsibilities include managing the process from contract to closing. Her prime directive is to prepare for every eventuality so no unnecessary stress is ever imposed on the client. As a team of Realtors, Nancy considers their singular job is to manage the details and keep their client posted on the progress.
A registered nurse with twenty years of experience as an Operating Room Supervisor, Nancy also served as the S.E. Regional Manager for Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals, Home IV Division. She earned The President’s Award from Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals for top production in the Home IV division.
A former director of The Greater Tampa Association of Realtors, she was awarded the Beacon Award multiple years for top performance by The Women's Council of Realtors. Nancy devotes her spare time to serving as a volunteer counselor at Assure Women’s Center and serves on the Board of Directors for 14:6 Connection.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate & Appraisal from Florida State University in 2006, Michael has a first-class understanding of the full spectrum of property sale and purchase; from appraisals to negotiation. In addition to specializing in new construction, he is a recent recipient of the National Association of Realtor’s MRP (Military Relocation Professional) certification to accommodate the special needs of active duty buyers and sellers, as well as veterans.
Working his way through college as a property manager, Michael received the invaluable opportunity to learn the industry hands-on while building the friendships and relationships that are at the foundation of his successful career.
Renowned for his integrity and prompt attention to detail, Michael’s excellent property assessment skills are indispensable to clients who seek a genuine education on the value of the home they are selling or buying. This insight allows him to educate both buyers and sellers on home values as they relate to the assessed value. With his encyclopedic knowledge of the golf world, he is also the team’s resident expert for information on local courses and communities along with detail on the area’s “living the Florida lifestyle” amenities.
An essential member of The Ward Team since 2002, Michael contributes his technological savvy and deep expertise in property law. When not working with a client, he is most likely to be found out on the course enjoying a few rounds of golf.
Katie is the most classically creative on the team. A talented graphic artist and website designer, she is responsible for not only maintaining the hundreds of URLs, landing pages, and websites for The Ward Team, Katie also elevates the marketing of client listings. In a visually-rich world that demands impeccable images and the most compelling means to showcase a listing, Katie transforms simple flyers, photos, and virtual tours into works of art with her toolkit of design software.
Excelling in targeted marketing on multiple platforms, she is an extra layer of support for the multitude of administrative and promotional tasks required to keep client transactions humming along.
Licensed in 2009, Katie is also a superb buyers’ agent who has been a welcome addition to the family business since 2006.
In her spare time Katie volunteers her talents to the Assure Women's Center. After creating their initial website, she developed marketing materials to support the organization's fund raising efforts. A professional singer who shares her time and talents to perform at local venues, Katie paints, writes poetry and was a theatre student at New York’s Pace University where she honed her musical abilities in their celebrated productions.
